Isoflavones are phytoestrogens

Phytoestrogens are similar, but not identical in molecular structure to estrogen. As such, they have the ability to selectively activate or block estrogen receptors (Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulator (SERM) qualities). This pro- or anti- estrogenic effect balances mechanisms that are estrogen dependent. For post-menopausal women, this effect of isoflavones can be especially important to reduce hot-flashes, osteoporosis and other symptoms associated with menopause.

Isoflavone distribution is important

SoyLife is manufactured from soy-germ. The soy-germ has a unique distribution of isoflavones, with a much larger amount of daidzein. Daidzien is linked specifically to bone-health. In addition, daidzein is the precursor to the isoflavone equol, which is metabolized in the gut. Equol, a relatively new isoflavone, is very potent.
